OKTOBERFEST: Massachusetts’ Best Breweries

We did a little homework and came up with the top-rated breweries, and we are excited to share the results with you.... but first, like most things these days, there are countless varieties of beers to choose from. However, two of the most popular styles are India pale ale (IPA) and Lager. If you enjoy a bitter, hoppy beer with a higher alcohol content, then IPA may be the right choice for you. However, if you prefer a clean crisp beer with lower alcohol content, then Lager may be the better option. Lager is the most widely consumed beer. And for the best here in Mass go to....

Treehouse brewing Company in Charlton Mass

ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD: Beer Lovers, you haven’t lived until you try the Julius! The Julius (an IPA) is popular because it’s incredibly flavorful easy to drink and consistent. It’s a one- of-a-kind beer that sparked a craft revolution and in spite of multiple attempts it is never been replicated. It is loaded with immense flavors as a result of years of focused brewing application and judicious use of the freshest hand selected hops. We believe, even if you’re not so crazy about beer, you’ll flip for the Julius! It’s a joy to drink! By the way, one little piece of information.... Treehouse brewery company was named the fourth best brewery in the world in 2019.

Trillium Beer

One of Renee’s favorites, and extremely popular, we had to include the one and only Trillium in our findings. If you don’t like bitter beer, you will love Trillium . They add copious amounts of hops to their beer at the end of the brewing process and during after fermentation, and this process leads to fresh beer with an amazing aroma and loads of hop flavor but low in bitterness. We featured Trillium in our summer posts. Their Fort point pale ale is a classic. And so is their Twice Daily Serving which starts with the basis of a German style beer called the berliner weisse, then focus on fruits as favorites. With flavors like passionfruit, orange peel and guava, it’s more like a tropical punch than a beer. Trillium spent years experimenting to get things just right! We say, perfect beer! This company even offers a variety of beer specific glasses that will make you regret ever using a solo cup. They thought of everything... All you have to do is remember to sip responsibly. Due to their overwhelming popularity, Trillium has made the list of the top breweries in the world and coming in at number 10 in 2016! By popular demand, they have set up several brewing locations in Boston, Canton and even Connecticut.

Lagers and only lagers...but man, they are terrific. Founded in 2011 by 3 brothers, Jack, Eric, and Sam Hendler, Jack’s Abby has become a mainstay of the craft brewing scene in the Northeast and nationwide. They can boast some high-quality products with the spirit of inspired innovation. They even have a Jack’s Abby coffee (from Red Barn Coffee). They know what they are doing over there. We’ve hung out in their patio and sipped a few of their prized beers, including their ultra-refreshing Blood Orange Wheat. Must say, we loved them all.

NOTCH Brewing Company in Salem Massachusetts

This waterfront beer hall, Notch, is known for their traditional laggers, which typically have modest alcohol. They focus on central European beers like from Bavaria, the Czech Republic, Poland and the like. According to our sources, they are less hop forward, more malty and some of the best in the world! October is a perfect time to go to Salem Massachusetts, so while you’re there stop by for a bewitching brew! It’s so good, you might feel spellbound.

Dev loves Nantucket and especially Cisco Brewing Co!

This brewery was founded 28 miles out to sea off the coast of Massachusetts, on the island of Nantucket. Therefore, it’s pretty hard to get to, but even harder to leave. It’s a place where time slows and conversation flows. If you visit Nantucket, you must stop by their Cisco brewery. They feature live musicians, great food, and it’s fun for the whole family. But if you’re not anywhere near Nantucket, there’s always a local grocery store for some great beer made by Cisco on Nantucket. We recommend their Whale’s Tale pale ale. They advertise it as an ode to Nantucket’s seafaring history. Generously hopped and balanced with the finest malts, this pale ale is fruity in aroma and copper in color. One of their most popular items. Dev’s go to beer is the Whale’s Tale or the Shark lager. And now...Cisco Brewers Seaport: they’re bringing a slice of Nantucket to Boston. This outdoor beer garden will be open until October 15th. Celebrate Indigenous People’s day at Cisco, Seaport with their innovative beer, and make your own history. Cheers!
