Nantucket
Nantucket, a small island off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, located 26 miles out to sea. Many call it the Far Away Island. This idyllic summer destination is pristine with its dune-backed beaches, and its unpainted cedar-shingled buildings, many surrounded by manicured privets. The wharves and cobblestoned streets of the Town of Nantucket are lined with restaurants, high-end boutiques and steepled churches. The town’s Whaling Museum recounts the island’s role as a 19th-century whaling hub
We love Nantucket! It’s picturesque, romantic, charming, and utterly irresistible. We find ourselves always going back because we just cannot get enough of this perfect vacation spot.
This island is without chain stores, has miles of cobblestone streets, buildings sided with weathered cedar shakes, and historical land markings on many of the buildings you come across you really feel taken back in time to an idyllic island. Nantucket is pristine, the beaches are gorgeous, and the hospitality of the islanders is unparalleled. Nantucket feels special. This vibe may lend itself more towards people who are looking for sightseeing, a nice stroll through beautiful architecture and local shops, and those who appreciate the finer things in life.
Dining:
One of our favorite spots is the Galley restaurant. Located at 54 Jefferson Ave. They feature a refined new American menu, craft cocktails, and polished surrounding plus a beach bar and lounge. It’s fabulous!
Straight Wharf:
We love Straight Wharf restaurant. It has a gorgeous waterfront location, impeccable service, creative New England fare, and a famous chef.... in other words, this dining spot has it all. Even the desserts are top-notch.
We have also seen first ladies dine at the Former 21 St. Restaurant. According to Boston magazine it was one of best restaurants on Nantucket. Well, now its Ventuno and we hear it’s also first -rate and fabulous
BEACHES:
A secret Nantucket beach that you don’t hear too much about, other than about its beauty, is Ladies Beach. It can be accessed off of Bartlett Farm Road on the South Shore.
