Cinco De Mayo

Although the victory at the Battle of Puebla was not a decisive turning point in the overall conflict between Mexico and France (the French eventually occupied Mexico for a few years), it became a symbol of Mexican resilience and patriotism. In the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a celebration of Mexican- American culture and heritage. It is often marked with parades, parties, traditional Mexican music and dancing, and of course, Mexican food and drinks. While the holiday is more widely celebrated in the United States than in Mexico, it remains an important day for Mexican-Americans to celebrate their heritage and culture.

Dev Likes to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo all year long at Lockheart in Wellesley, Massachusetts

Lockheart in Wellesley is not just a favorite of Devon’s, it is a weekly staple! Their staff is top-notch, their weekend nightly entertainment is so fun, and their food is even better! Devon especially loves their Smash Tacos and Dry Rub Wings.

Some others that Devon says are simply “must try’s”:

Casa Romaro

Casa Romaro one of the best Mexican restaurants in Back Bay and one of Dev’s all-time favorites! This is truly a hidden gem, but those who love Mexican food know to go to Casa Romaro for some of the best around!

Anna’s Taqueria

Devon’s rainy day guilty pleasure...you can find one in Boston, Brookline and Newton! A little birdie told us they have the best burritos. The locals are OBSESSED with Anna’s, and it’s a special treat for students and hard-working professionals alike. With their cheese-lined tortillas, you won’t want to miss these amazing burritos!

Sol Azteca

Located in Newton, Sol Azteca is known for its authentic Mexican cuisine and festive atmosphere. They often host Cinco de Mayo celebrations with special dishes and drinks.

Temazcal Tequila Cantina

With locations in Seaport, Dedham and Natick. Temazcal is a popular spot for modern Mexican cuisine and an extensive tequila selection. They typically have special Cinco de Mayo menus and events.

Taqueria El Amigo

Located in Waltham, Taqueria El Amigo is a popular spot for authentic Mexican street food. They might have special Cinco de Mayo offerings or events.

MIJA Cantina & Tequila

Mexican cantina in Quincy Market serving tacos & hearty entrees in wood-paneled, candlelit quarters. We love it!

These are just a few examples, and there are likely many other Mexican restaurants in the area that celebrate Cinco de Mayo in their own unique way. It’s always a good idea to check with the restaurant directly or visit their website or social media pages for more information on their Cinco de Mayo celebrations. We always enjoy many of the traditional Mexican dishes, such as tacos, enchiladas, burritos, and fajitas, as well as the many margaritas and fine tequilas. Another reason to celebrate this fun holiday.

Metro-Boston Celebrations

In Boston, you can find Cinco de Mayo restaurants in neighborhoods like Back Bay, Fenway, and the South End. These locations often draw a crowd looking to enjoy a lively dining experience with friends or family. In the Metro West area, Cinco de Mayo restaurants can be found in cities like Framingham, Natick, and Marlborough. These locations offer a more suburban dining experience but still provide the same delicious Mexican cuisine and festive ambiance.

Overall, Cinco de Mayo restaurants in Boston and Metro West are popular choices for those looking to enjoy authentic Mexican food in a fun and lively setting. And this year it coincides on the same weekend as the Kentucky Derby. What a spectacular way to start May! Ole!
