Savannah Historic District
Savannah's Historic District is one of the largest and most well-preserved urban historic areas in the United States. The district is characterized by cobblestone streets, historic squares, and beautifully restored 18th and 19th-century buildings.

Savannah Parks & Squares
The city is famous for its 22 historic squares, each with its own unique character and charm. Forsyth Park, one of the largest city parks, is a popular destination for both locals and visitors, featuring walking paths, gardens, and an iconic fountain. Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia, was originally designed in the 1840s by William B. H. Howe, but it underwent significant renovations in the 1880s, which were influenced by the landscape architecture firm of Olmsted and Sons. While Olmsted's firm did have some involvement in the redesign, the park cannot be credited entirely to Olmsted himself. Olmsted also designed Mt. Auburn Cemetery and Bonaventure Cemetery, where Devon’s grandparents lie in a mausoleum.

Savannah History: Frederick Law Olmsted
Frederick Law Olmsted had affiliations with our home city of Boston. Olmsted is known as the father of American landscape architecture and was involved in several projects in and around Boston. One of his most famous works in the area is the Emerald Necklace, a series of interconnected parks and green spaces that stretches through Boston and its surrounding areas. He also designed the landscape for the Arnold Arboretum and Franklin Park, both located in Boston. Overall, Olmsted's work had a significant impact on the development of green spaces and park systems in Boston and other cities across the United States.
The Fountain at Forsyth Park
The beautiful Forsyth Park Fountain is one of Savannah’s most well-known icons. Located on the north end of the park the fountain is one of the most photographed places in Savannah. Because of the fountain’s beauty and romance, it is often the site of proposals, engagement photo shoots and weddings!
Waterfront Views: River Street
Located along the Savannah River, River Street is a bustling waterfront area with shops, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment. It offers scenic views of the river and is a great place for a leisurely stroll. This is also the area where the popular book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was set.

The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace, also known as the Juliette Gordon Low House, is a historic house museum in Savannah, Georgia. It was the birthplace and childhood home of Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts of the USA. The house is a designated National Historic Landmark and is open to the public for tours. It is a popular destination for Girl Scout troops and visitors interested in learning about the life and legacy of Juliette Gordon Low.
Savannah’s Culinary Scene
Savannah's culinary scene is diverse, with a mix of Southern, seafood, and international cuisine. The city is known for its delicious comfort food, and many restaurants are housed in historic buildings. Devon loves Garbaldi’s. It’s her Grannie Annie’s favorite place. They knew her by name, and always had a perfect table waiting in this refined Italian spot with seafood showcased in a romantic firehouse.

The Pink House is a historic restaurant located in Savannah, Georgia. It is known for its charming pink exterior and its rich history dating back to the 18th century. The restaurant offers Southern cuisine in an elegant setting, making it a popular dining destination for both locals and tourists visiting Savannah.
Fox 28 Savannah
Devon also wanted us to mention the Tybee Crab Shack. This popular seafood restaurant is located on Tybee Island, near Savannah. Known for its casual atmosphere and fresh seafood dishes, Tybee Crab Shack offers a variety of menu items, including crab legs, shrimp, oysters, and fish. The restaurant is popular among both locals and tourists looking to enjoy a taste of the coastal cuisine that the area is known for. We hear they have a baby alligator pool! Yikes!
Savannah allows open containers in most of the city’s historic district and across the Savannah River, but only in 16-ounce cups. And drinks are limited to one cup per person, making for a vibrant bar scene.
