Mike’s or Modern? Which North End Bakery gets your vote?
Another said, “I can’t decide and so I just go to Bova!” And that is a completely different pastry shop.
Since we are truly in love with our city, we say just get into Boston and taste and experience for yourself. And let us know what you think. We think these two North End powerhouse bakeries just can’t be beat!
First of all, we enjoy and appreciate both Modern and Mike’s Pastry. Each have their own sumptuous delights. But we asked around. One foodie we know chose Modern because “I love their downstairs secret bar and I love their amore divino. It’s their special nougat that is laced with almonds, pistachio pistachios paste, and chocolate! It’s the best ever. Their cookies are out of this world, especially the green pistachio cookies. And, you can sit there and have espresso or go downstairs for drinks.” This foodie sure sounds like she knows what she’s talking about. We are heading over to Modern right after we post this!
But hold on....another foodie we talked to says: “Mike’s cannoli’s, and butter cookies with jam in the middle, doused in a glaze, are so yummy, they just can’t be beat.” She gives Mike’s two thumbs up.
We could go ON. Everyone we spoke to had a different opinion and a reason for why. One said the line is longer at Mike’s sometimes and so they go across to Modern.
