The U.S.S. Constitution

The USS Constitution, also known as "Old Ironsides," is a historic naval ship of the United States Navy. Launched in 1797, she is the world's oldest commissioned warship still afloat. The Constitution earned her nickname during the War of 1812 when British cannonballs were seen bouncing off her sturdy hull, giving the impression that she was made of iron. She played a crucial role in several battles during this war, including notable victories over HMS Guerriere and HMS Java.

Today, the USS Constitution is preserved as a museum ship in Boston Harbor. She serves as a floating museum and symbol of American naval heritage, offering tours and educational programs to visitors from around the world. The ship's maintenance and preservation are managed by the Naval History & Heritage Command Detachment of Boston.

Getting There: One way is the water taxi from the Aquarium wharf to the Navy Yard. A 15-minute ride with the city as a backdrop for only $3.00 for adults.
