Resolutions

It’s that time of year again, when we make our New Year’s Resolutions.

And, even if you haven’t been able to stick to any of them up till now, here at These Days with Devon, we have some suggestions that could really help make 2023 the Best Year EVER!!!!

We have done some research and have come up with some New Year’s Resolutions that take minimal effort but yield big results!

The first one is really simple: Do your best to try and adopt an attitude of gratitude. We have seen this simple change make people truly happier.

If you feel yourself ready to complain, just stop for a moment and think of something you are grateful for. You have more to be grateful for then you might realize, and making yourself aware of this as often as you can brings even more blessings your way. What we focus on expands. So, think about the good things and good people in your life not what is missing. The more you do this the more you will find that you have to be grateful for. It’s not magic, its just the powerful energy of GRATITUDE AT WORK.

MOVE more! When you are running errands and parking your car, just park further away and WALK. The more you do this the healthier you get. And, at the end of the year think of all the miles you walked! They add up and your heart gets stronger too. There are gyms to join, indoor pools, tennis, even rock climbing. Keep Moving – Exercise is the fountain of youth!

Take ten. So many of us have a tendency to clutter and couch surf while our homes get messier. We promise ourselves our entire home will be cleaned and organized. And we often set ourselves up for disappointment. However, If we take just ten minutes a day to straighten one pile, or clean one little messy area of your home, office, room, this Vastly improves our mood, and your surroundings. We have been doing this and LOVE the results. WE do resolve to continue for 2023. If you need help with this no worries, we can recommend some professional organizers. And last but not least, we believe that taking a digital detox for twenty minutes a week will also be good for your psyche and is a fantastic resolution. And, when NOT on your device, why not write a card or letter to an old friend, an aunt or an uncle. Staying connected to people is something doctors all recommend. Or, when you put down your phone, this is a great time for some deep breathing.

AHH....

Be a bit old fashioned and let go of the device. This is one you just have to try and you can see for yourself how good it feels to be free of our emails and texting for a short period each week. Some of you probably feel better already just thinking about this. So, 2023 is off to a fabulous start!
