MEMORIAL DAY....And MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND....TWO DIFFERENT CELEBRATIONS. HERE AT THESE DAYS WITH DEVON WE CELEBRATE AND HONOR BOTH!
MEMORIAL DAY STARTED OUT AS A SPECIAL DAY OF TRIBUTE TO DECORATE GRAVES OF THOSE WHO HAD SERVED. It was originally called Decoration Day, from the early tradition of decorating the graves with flowers, wreaths, and flags.
Memorial Day honors America's military men and women who lost their lives in service to their country. We observe this holiday on the last Monday of May, a time of year when weather is warmer and schools and colleges are adjourning for summer break.
