Embracing the Magic of Christmas

At These Days with Devon, our love for Christmas knows no bounds! We've eagerly awaited this festive season all year long, and now that it's finally here, we can't contain our excitement. The season of giving, joy, and togetherness has arrived, and we're thrilled to share the magic of Christmas with you. Read on to find out why we love the spirit of Christmas, and tips and tricks on how to get the most out of your holiday celebrations:

Why We Love Christmas

  • Celebration of Family and Togetherness: Christmas is a time when family and friends come together to celebrate and spend quality time with one another. It often involves gatherings, sharing meals, and creating cherished memories LIKE baking cookies, decorating trees, Christmas singing, looking at the lights, wrapping presents, writing cards, filling stockings, counting our blessings and so much more!

  • Religious Significance: For Christians, Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the central figure of their faith. It is a time to reflect on the religious aspects of the holiday, attend church services, and engage in acts of charity and goodwill.

  • Cultural and Family Traditions: Many cultures and families have their own unique Christmas traditions and customs, from decorating the tree to hanging stockings by the fireplace. These traditions add a sense of continuity and comfort to the holiday season. What are your favorite traditions?

  • Acts of Kindness and Generosity: Christmas encourages people to practice kindness and generosity by giving gifts, donating to charity, and helping those in need. This spirit of giving is a central theme during the holiday season. Devon wants to especially remind her readers of taking a moment to reflect on those less fortunate and help in any way you can. We’ve given to clothes drives, soup kitchens, and visit the elderly. And not just at Christmas time. The age old saying it’s in giving that we receive is profoundly true!!!

We just love the festive decorations, the colorful lights, and ornate displays that adorn homes and public spaces and create a sense of wonder and joy. The visual appeal of Christmas decorations adds to the special atmosphere. It feels like the whole world is illuminated at Christmas time.

Dev suggests (if its within your budget) to hire some elves to help you decorate. There are companies who will do the decorating for you. When contacting potential companies, consider discussing your specific needs, budget, and any design preferences you have for your Christmas decorations.

May we recommend: Mary’s Holiday Lights. This is a locally owned and operated, full-service light provider and installation company. They do the hard work, from installation to removal and storage, so you can look forward to the holiday season without the all the work and hassle with outside decorating.

And there is also Boston Cityscapes Holiday Décor: Cityscapes offers endless possibilities when it comes to decorating your space for the holidays. From a few poinsettias or amaryllis plants to full custom with large Christmas trees, snow scenes, oversized menorahs, sleighs, and decorative skating ponds. Choose from one of our themes that range from traditional to completely unique and fun, or have us custom design a theme for your space!

Christmas falls at the end of the year, marking a time of reflection and the anticipation of a new year. It is seen as a season of hope, new beginnings, and a chance to start afresh. Christmas is celebrated around the world and has been adopted and adapted by various cultures. It serves as a unifying, global holiday that brings people together in the spirit of joy and goodwill.

The exchange of gifts is a central part of Christmas. It's an opportunity to show love and appreciation for others, and the act of giving and receiving gifts can be deeply meaningful.

Christmas combines a mix of religious, cultural, and personal elements that promote love, togetherness, generosity, and reflection. It is a time when people come together to create and celebrate traditions, express gratitude, and spread cheer, making it a cherished and meaningful holiday for many.  Everyone here at These Days with Devon and C. Devon’s Homes loves the holidays and we are so happy you are sharing them with us by reading and appreciating all the special delights we curate just for you!
