Castle in the Clouds, also known as the Lucknow Estate, is a stunning early 20th-century mansion nestled in the Ossipee Mountains overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee in Moultonborough, New Hampshire. Built in 1914 by wealthy shoe manufacturer Thomas Gustave Plant, the estate covers 6,300 acres and showcases the architectural beauty of the Arts & Crafts movement.

 

Originally called Lucknow Mansion, the estate features 16 rooms filled with historical artifacts, including unique early 20th-century technologies like a central vacuum system and intercoms. The property also includes beautifully landscaped grounds, hiking trails, and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

 

Today, Castle in the Clouds operates as a museum, offering visitors a chance to explore the mansion's elegant interiors and learn about the Plant family's life. The estate also hosts various events, from weddings to guided tours, and features a restaurant called Café in the Clouds. The property provides a mix of historical exploration and outdoor activities, making it a popular destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike​!
