LET US TAKE YOU TO NEW HEIGHTS

Boston is known for many things...we have the colleges, the medical excellence, the tea party and all that rich history, but keep looking up, like we do here at These Days with Devon, and you will find more reasons to LOVE Boston....

Here at These Days with Devon, it may be September, but are not quite ready to let go of summer yet. We found a way to make it linger. And given all those glorious views and summer vibes still in the air, we decided to take summer through the roof... literally. We think it’s one way to make summer last a little longer, or at least feel that way!

Pictured above is our personal favorite, the Envoy at Seaport. This picture-perfect view is just one super fabulous way to see how beautiful Boston really is day or night, and in any season. During the winter they have those warm cozy igloos. But we like it in the summer/September. It’s just one sure way to appreciate Boston even more. It’s a natural high!

EARL’S KITCHEN AND BAR

This is a twinkling roof deck that seats more than 200 people across various dining and lounge-style settings. It has a gigantic tree and an ivy-lined wall, and the retractable roof allows for three-season enjoyment. Earls, a Canadian chain, offers a wide-ranging menu, so you can enjoy Yucatan chicken tacos while your date digs into tuna tataki. And Earl’s features plenty of creative cocktails for fun.

Stratus at View Boston

And if you want to get really high, like on top of the world high—or at least the Greater Boston area—51 floors up at the rooftop cocktail bar at View Boston, the Prudential Center’s recently reimagined observatory space. You’ll need to buy a ticket to get in; start your visit on floor 52, with giant windows providing stunning views all around. From there, you can descend to Stratus to relax with a drink in the open air, taking in endless sights (and taking endless selfies). The 360-degree views include…pretty much everything. Interactive digital displays and models on the 52nd floor will help you spot landmarks such as Fenway Park and the Museum of Fine Arts. Once you get to Stratus, look for a short and sweet list of cocktails, pitchers of sangria, and cans of beer, hard seltzer, and hard kombucha.

If you like beer, we mention Trillium again. Trillium Brewing

Company

Trillium’s, Seaport is topped with an uncovered roof deck with its own bar, open Friday to Sunday when weather permits. The space fills up fast, but if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to grab a table or room at the standing rail. Place your order at the bar and enjoy your drink among a cool and chill crowd of beer lovers. Trillium’s own great beer is showcased here, naturally. Their roof deck features a variety of rotating draft pours; look for hoppy IPAs, a fruity Berliner Weisse or two, some crisp lagers, and more, not to mention hard seltzers from Trillium’s in-house brand, Soak. And then check out the views including Seaport architecture, old and new. We just love all their outstanding beer!

Umbria

We even found a great super new rooftop hot spot in the North End. Yes, right on Hanover Street just opened in August of 2023..There is now a three story restaurant called Umbria. The first two floor feature fine Italian dining, and at the very top is Mia, the roof deck. (renee is going in two weeks and will write more)

There’s Contessa

This is atop the Old Ritz Carlton (now the Newbury) overlooking Boston Common, in the heart of Back Bay. If you are looking for class, and charm, and history, all with a superb view, and top-notch service, second to none, well, Contessa is your answer. Take a peek. This place is so swanky, one picture is not enough. Here’s two...and here’s to you!

Make sure to try their famous Spicy Lobster Capellini and sip one of their expertly crafted cocktails. All Hail Contessa, she lives up to her name!

If you want even more rooftop adventure swing on over to the Top of the Doubletree in Boston/Cambridge: On the 16th floor of the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Boston-Cambridge, enjoy a laid-back atmosphere while taking in stunning views of the scenic Charles River and Boston city skyline at this outdoor rooftop bar.

On the North Shore, no worries, we’ve got you covered. If you don’t feel like driving into Beantown, there’s Misson on the Bay, a waterfront restaurant in Swampscott, with amazing views of Boston. You don’t have to drive into the city to enjoy its beauty. Just sit and sip while swooning over the view of the gorgeous Boston skyline. At Mission they have a rooftop deck and serve great food and drinks. They love to say “Get your Vitamin Sea!” And we can attest, THEY DELIVER! Their location alone lifts your spirits.

Boston’s Largest Rooftop Bar, The Revere Hotel:

Now open daily! The largest and most vibrant rooftop lounge in Boston, Rooftop@Revere is the place to eat, drink, meet, and play above the Theater District and Back Bay. Sip and snack on their 15,000 square foot rooftop which they boast is the hippest high-rise spot in downtown Boston, with sofas and cabanas for relaxing outdoors. You can enjoy local New England cuisine with creative cocktails, wine and local craft beer. Don’t you just love Boston?!

Enjoy a dip in one of Boston’s (few) Rooftop Pools: The Colonnade Hotel.

Given all this hot and humid weather why not make a splash at the Colonnade Hotel’s famous rooftop pool, (one of the very few in Boston). This makes for an exhilarating gathering place for family and friends to enjoy a refreshing dip. They also serve small bites and carefully crafted cocktails at this unique rooftop bar. They’ve got billowing private cabanas, and offer a beautiful 12 story buffer between you and the busy world below. You can dress up or dress down, sip, stretch, or swim at this urban oasis. Don’t miss this fabulous opportunity to stay cool at one of the coolest places in Boston the top of the Colonnade Hotel!

Stay tuned for our Brewery Post coming in October. Thanks for staying with us.

There is always more wonder brewing here with These Days with Devon. We LOVE taking you to new heights...
