Revolution 250 celebrates a wide array of landmark events recognizing our country’s journey to independence and the founding of a free nation. The United States was created through a series of important events in our history that led to our separation from British rule. As a nation built on centuries of passion and an intrepid spirit, acknowledging and rejoicing in our beginning is an essential part of being an American patriot. We recommend attending as many of the following events as possible as we approach our 250th anniversary of independence:

Each month we continue to list events in the true spirit of patriotism:

The Battle of Chelsea Creek is a significant, yet often forgotten, event in the history of the American Revolution. It was the first naval engagement of the American Revolution in the spring of 1775, as tensions between the colonists and the British were escalating. While the British controlled Boston, they relied on supplies from the Harbor Islands. The Battle of Chelsea Creek was a crucial moment when the colonists struck back, marking the first victory for the Army of the United Colonies. It was also the first time American forces took control of a British warship, the HMS Diana.
